Daybook

Updated: May 13, 2020

Outside my window - Well, it’s Monday and the sun is shining after a few days of rather dreary weather. Halloween was cold and wet! There was a solid frost on the windshields this morning. There is progress on the deck!! And it’s expected/hoped that there will be even more this weekend. Here’s to hoping :-)

Listening to - clock ticking, traffic in the distance, buzzing in my ear...

Clothing myself in - a new favorite burgundy sweatshirt I purchased in Florida and jeans. Tennis shoes today so I can get some work done. Keeping house - preparing for a Sip N Shop this Sunday and there is quite a bit that needs to be done, but not an overwhelming amount. Moving some furniture will be required.

Keeping it simple - Heading into the holiday season, I am already working ahead to make things simple so I can enjoy time with my family rather than trying to manage all the cooking by myself. A few years ago I started using Facebook as the tool it should be and created events for our big holidays. At the end of the birthday celebrations yesterday, I created those events for Thanksgiving and Christmas and made assignments for all the food, including John and myself. I also posted the name drawings and info for all the other fun stuff we enjoy doing - games and stocking stuffers, etc… I aim to take my mantra to keep it simple seriously!!

To be fit and healthy - It’s time. I started wearing my FitBit again, resumed some walking, and logging on MyFitnessPal again. I intend to start strength training again and start making better choices.  I’ve been witness, up close and personal recently, to the effects of not making better choices. Get busy livin’ or get busy dyin’ - this is all part of that. Pondering - 2000 words a day goal for NaNoWriMo… Today is the first day and I have zero words toward that goal so far, but I’m heading there as soon as I hit publish on this Daybook post!

Watching - Grace and Frankie; Iron Fist; The Good Witch season 5. Obviously watching more than I had planned according to my previous daybook post.

Reading - a lot, but no fiction. The plan was to reserve evening time for that, but I have been watching tv instead. I’m not going to beat myself up, I’m not going to beat myself up...

Loving the moments - of quiet when I can focus on some of the new adventures I’m exploring. I love so many moments, these are just the newest :-)

Words worth sharing - pretty sure I’m still clinging to the words I shared in the daybook post before this one - they are sustaining many efforts on my part to dip my toes into multiple areas at once, gently, slowly, gradually - understanding now that to have one area of focus was never going to work. Balance is a fallacy to be sure, but the calm, confident give-and-take required to sort through each day and keep moving in any direction requires a balancing of sorts. So maybe this week, “Progress, not perfection”.

Giving thanks for - kids who love spending time with me and with each other despite the very small space we have to offer for such gatherings, still. We’re working on it.

Planning for the week ahead - just one day at a time, that’s how I’m operating now. Baby should be arriving any day, and I have to be on call 24/7 until that happens! There are things on the calendar - all good things and nothing that requires a lot of work from me - thank you Jesus. I need a break.
