Grandma Pat’s Famous Sugar Cookies

1 cup sugar

1 cup powdered sugar

1 cup margarine or butter

1 cup oil

2 egg, well beaten

2 tsp vanilla

1 tsp cream of tartar

1 tsp baking soda

5 ¼ cup all purpose flour

Cream both sugars with margarine or butter. Add eggs and vanilla. Stir in oil. MIx dry ingredients in a separate bowl. Blend dry ingredients with sugar mixture until well combined.

Refrigerate overnight. Or don’t LOL 2 hours minimum is helpful but not necessary :-)

Roll into balls, dip into sugar and flatten with the bottom of a glass or a jar. Cut shapes if desired. At this point, you have probably figured out that you can also roll it out on the counter and hope you can move them without breaking from there to the cookie sheet.

Bake on a prepared cookie sheet (I use parchment paper) 350 degrees until cookies are barely brown on the top. DO NOT OVERBAKE!! Let cool, decorate with Christmas cheer and lots of love and laughter.

My husband’s family Christmas tradition was to make a hole in the cookie dough with a straw and once they were baked and decorated they were hung on the REAL tree as ornaments.

Enjoy!! These are calorie free, of course. Not...
