Homeschooling without a formal support group? Can it be done?
Well, we may find out this year. It's not that I don't want or enjoy being part of a homeschool support group - it was a very important part of our homeschooling for a very long season. But stuff happens and things change.
I'm in an area where there are actually several groups but I just can't find my comfort zone with any of them. I caused some strife for two of them (unintentional and a deep regret for me) and refuse to sign the Statement of Faith for another, one is entirely too far of a drive for me if I want to enjoy some stress-free schooling this year :-) and yet another is just starting up and I'm just not sure it's what we need (quickly growing organized co-op). I am left with a few choices - join one of them, some of them or all of them (not) OR just go it alone. Can that be a good thing? I'm not sure. Only time will tell.
