Hello! Today is:

SEE WHAT'S NEW!

Giving thanks - for God’s faithfulness and care for us. For a warm house and the family that shares it. That spring will eventually return. Being able to see my grown up kids and our grandkids regularly because we live near each other. This is not something I ever want to take for granted. That God created us to be creative. For the women in our mastermind group who share this appreciation.

Outside my window - snow and cold. Each passing year reminds me just how much I do not like snow. I don’t mind the cold so much, but the snow is just not my cup of tea. This particular snow event started and ended with sleet, so what I really don’t like is ice. I bought a snowblower to make life easier; that didn’t work out so well this time.

Clothing myself in - since I got up at 4:00 am, I’m still wearing my black and white plaid pajamas and a zip up sweatshirt. Layers - that’s what is needed when it’s 6 degrees outside.

In the kitchen - That’s a whole story in itself! I’ve started on the sourdough journey (December 28, 2024 to be exact), and I am hooked. I’m working on a new space for storing and proofing the dough but until that is done it’s on the counter. It’s taking up some space that I’d prefer to reclaim for daily work but it has priority for now.

Writing - So not happening right now LOL. My goal is to get back to writing great content for the blog (and now I have an additional blog to write for) and maybe even dabble a bit on the book… Morning pages are hit-and-miss and done digitally. It is what it is. I’d rather write something than write nothing at all.

Reading - I have enjoyed the books assigned from the book club but must admit I did not manage to read the last, nor have I started the current. But I hope to! The holidays always knock me off course for a bit. I should be able to listen to them while I work in the kitchen with all the dough. That is my hope for 2025!

I plan to read a section of my daughter's manuscript a little each day. She’s writing faster than I can read LOL.

Watching - We rewatched The Chosen and just finished season 4 so we’ll have it fresh when season 5 is released. If you haven’t watched it, you should. I don’t believe any previous production of the story of Jesus has more accurately depicted the gospel. This is 100% opinion, of course, and there are always going to be different opinions. I am fully aware that it is a creative presentation of the bible, and some liberties were taken to fill in gaps where they exist (elaborating on personality traits and offering possible scenarios between historical figures). I am also fully aware that it was/is a theatrical presentation produced and offered by fallible human beings and that things could change with future episodes (I pray it doesn’t), but for many who have read scripture and grown in understanding of it, the visual experience brings it more to life than anything else ever has. I, for one, am so grateful for the availability of that experience.

When we finished that, we moved on to Shrinking. It’s an Apple original. It’s full of language, as are most series these days, but I can’t help how much it makes me laugh (and cry).

Listening - As always, Rachel’s playlists. But I rotate between genres according to my moods. 🙂

Making - all the bread. And plans.

Camp - Oh how we miss camp!!! Winter is hard on us because we really can’t go knowing the power often goes out. Some folks can go because if the power goes out they can simply get in their cars and go home when they live only a short distance. But being twelve hours away makes that an impracticality for us. We can’t wait for Spring and camp trips!

Our vacation week in Florida gave us ideas about some of the set up for camp. John took photos of the same things I did the first time I went and was inspired by it. More to come later.

The week ahead - The week is almost over. Well, the work week is almost over for John. It’s only one day past hump day in reality. More snow is expected, and more baking too. How many days before Spring???

I hope you’ll check out our new project! Our Micro Bakery and Market will be up and running soon! There are some details to finish and the weather will have to be better to safely offer porch pick ups. We can’t wait to open the doors!!
