Hello! Today is:

SEE WHAT'S NEW!

I say yes. It might seem like a rather odd thing for this blogger to write about but I just have one thing to say (well, I probably could think of way more but I'll try really hard not to) after reading several articles about the issue of Illinois AG Lisa Madigan's determination that all Illinois FOID card holders should be a matter of public record. Just one question really; if gun owners shouldn't worry about criminals being able to single them out because only the names will be made available and no addresses, phone numbers or other more specifically identifying information - how is that information helpful to those that claim..."Having those records in the public arena is also helpful in making sure that local law enforcement and the state police are following up with those people who have FOID cards who should be prohibited purchasers"...?

The state police have records of those granted a FOID card and those who actually purchase guns (legally). If law enforcement agencies need that information it is available to them. The simple listing of names with no other identifying information does not assist other entities in their attempts to keep watch on the enforcement of gun control. Isn't the information they want to give the "good guys" so they can be the self-proclaimed watchdogs over law enforcement the same information the "bad guys" would need to find the guns???

I still haven't read anywhere why the AP requested the information. What really gives here????

A curious mind...
