Just this year

It’s the week before Thanksgiving, and we put up some Christmas decorations yesterday. This is not normal for me. It’s not actually very comfortable for me either. I’m a firm believer that Santa Claus needs to wait for Tom turkey. However, this year, John and Rachel and I will be visiting Florida for a week at the beginning of December. So I was convinced that it would be OK this year to go ahead and decorate for Christmas before Thanksgiving so that we would be able to enjoy it longer when we return in December. 

I’m happy to report that all the efforts that I have made in the past years to declutter and better organize is paying off this year. It was pretty easy and quick for us to switch out the little bit of fall/autumn decor and put up the things that are Christmas. We will not put the tree up until the day after Thanksgiving, however. I do insist on this at the very least. 

I’m not sure I’ll know what to do with myself if I have downtime during the whole month of December. I don’t intend to do any candy making or much baking for that matter. Nobody seems to need or want the sugar and the gluten. This is a new day. I guess we’ll Find out what Christmas looks like with new or different traditions.
