Hello! Today is:

SEE WHAT'S NEW!

My most recent adventure - repurposing old cabinets. We brought them up from the basement and Rachel painted them this gorgeous green. Topped it with some stained wood from the local Lowe's, added a wine rack that has also lived in our basement for years, and then hung this lovely find from Hobby Lobby. I'm very happy with the results!

... just not at the same time.

That is what a very wise friend of mine always says. And she is correct. Well, maybe not all, but many things.

The past year has taught me a few important lessons. One of those lessons is that I have a wide variety of interests - things I really do enjoy doing - and I can do them all, but not at the same time. I think understanding this is key to my peace of mind.

In the past, I bounced around from one hobby to another and sometimes berated myself because I couldn't keep up with an of them very well. I claimed the adage of not being able to do anything well if you try to do everything. While there is truth in this, it's also true that allowing ourselves to pursue our interests while, at the same time, recognizing that hobbies are intended to bring enjoyment, not necessarily accomplishment is very helpful. Somewhat like the saying the joy is in the journey, not the destination.

I'm looking forward to what the next year brings.
