And so it begins
We have been trying to address each child more individually where their extra-curricular activities are concerned and during our discussions it was decided that Joshua would be joining a swim team and Christina would continue in volleyball. Tonight was the first trip to the pool to sign up and have first practice. The only swim team available to him in this area in the winter months is the YMCA team and the only location they practice at is, I am convinced, the most run down, old, dilapidated YMCA on the face of the planet. And it's 30 minutes away (20 in perfect traffic and perfect weather). But it's what he really, really wanted to do, or so he thinks - we'll see how it goes.
If we had not started our family's swim experience at such wonderful pools and under such perfect conditions perhaps I would be less disappointed in this situation. I guess I have to learn to be happy with less and that's not always a bad thing.

I too had to adjust my 'standards'. The pools in VA were beautiful! I one that we swim at here, not beautiful. But it is water and that is what we need for them to swim. So I am right there with you, once again living parallel lives.
