Hello! Today is:

SEE WHAT'S NEW!

I mentioned in my last post how much I enjoyed the Matthew Kelly talk on CD. It led me to look at more of the Lighthouse media CDs and consider joining the CD of the month club.

I believe that God leads us where He wants us if we are willing to follow. I received a phone call on Sunday from a friend telling me that there was an announcement in her church bulletin that Matthew Kelly was scheduled for a talk at a very newly built catholic church about 2 miles up the road from my house. It was free and open to the public. Needless to say, my husband and I met our friends there for a very special opportunity to listen to Call to Joy. Wow! I was so happy that John went with me and he enjoyed it so much that he told me to buy the 6 DVD set right away. I anticipate that it will be put to good use for years to come.

John has been reading The Secret which his mother recommended to him and he found great wisdom and strength while reading it. It had a very positive affect on him and continues to do so. I read through some of it but found it a bit too secular for my taste. I agree with the general idea but believe that the relationship with our Lord is the key to our happiness and refuse to "put it out into the Universe". I prefer to give it to God and I don't hesitate to let them know that. There's a typical conversation between John's family and me; they put it out into the Universe, Susan prays. I told John after purchasing and reading through The Rhythm of Life that I had found my version of The Secret. John will benefit from both :-)

I've heard it before but I recently came face to face with the realization that God has always pursued me. I recognized that the times when I found myself purposefully turning to Him and seeking His will for me it has been in response to a call from Him. Sometimes those calls came through friends that He had placed in my life and sometimes the call came through the solitude I found myself in when life situations demanded it. It humbles and awes me that I have been so blessed to sense His presense throughout the stages of my life and I cling to the hope and knowledge that He will remain present in my life and my heart for ever. There is a song that expresses the soul's invitation to the Lord to come and live in me - "Welcome Home". The artist takes a moment for humor before performing this song but it's worth a clean chuckle.

Welcome Home
by Shaun Groves

Take, me, make me
All You want me to be
That's all I'm asking, all I'm asking

Welcome to this heart of mine
I've buried under prideful vines
Grown to hide the mess I've made
Inside of me
Come decorate, Lord
Open up the creaking door
And walk upon the dusty floor
Scrape away the guilty stains
Until no sin or shame remain
Spread Your love upon the walls
And occupy the empty halls
Until the man I am has faded
No more doors are barricaded

Chorus:
Come inside this heart of mine
It's not my own
Make it home
Come and take this heart and make it
All Your own
Welcome home

Take a seat, pull up a chair
Forgive me for the disrepair
And the souvenirs from floor to ceiling
Gathered on my search for meaning
Every closet's filled with clutter
Messes yet to be discovered
I'm overwhelmed, I understand
I can't make this place all that You can

repeat chorus

I took the space that You placed in me
Redecorated in shades of greed
And I made sure every door stayed locked
Every window blocked, and still You knocked
