Politics for Dummies?

I was just preparing to complain about my personal ignorance (at the age of 43!) of our political system. I understand the basics but feel completely ignorant of the details. I believe this is the beginning of a quest for knowledge. I realized this more strikingly tonight when a couple of friends were having a discussion and I felt completely like a child. I don't want to know to be in with the group, I really desire to understand such things. There certainly must be a book Politics for Dummies! Let's see... standby for the answer.
