Backyard River
For a moment this morning I thought perhaps I hadn't left Keokuk and I was still overlooking the Mississippi. Then I realized I was really looking at my own VERY FLOODED back yard!!! Thank goodness we have that small 4-5' hill between us and that undevelopable swamp land that was the reason for buying this particular lot. At 7:30 a.m. our door bell rang and the neighbor boy was standing in the pouring rain with his Rottweiler (have no idea if that's how it is spelled) and exclaimed, "Have you looked in your back yard?" Well, I had many times earlier when I got up and had coffee while checking out our newly planted garden from my windows. But, no, I hadn't seen this at all. There was actually a visible current!
Can anyone say FLOOD INSURANCE?
All I can say is WOW! That is a sight! And yes, you might want to look into flood insurance. Unfortunately it takes 30 days to get. But you would have it if it happens again. Oh I hope that you don't have any damage and that it starts to go down.
