Hello! Today is:

SEE WHAT'S NEW!

Giving Thanks - When we ask something of God, He often responds with opportunities to grow into what we seek. A new day—every 24 hours—is a gift. So is air conditioning (it is still July, after all). I’m grateful for our beautiful backyard, for the chickens that bring joy to my daughter’s family (and the rest of us, too), and for all the new things I’m exploring and learning.

Outside My Window - I can see clearly now—literally! This morning I noticed how dirty the window had become and decided it was time to scrub it clean. What an incredible difference it makes. The sun is shining, and I enjoyed my coffee on the deck while watching the rabbits, squirrels, and birds. It really is my happy place.

Clothing Myself In - Work clothes today. As soon as the sun dries the morning dew, I have mowing and trimming to do. There’s something satisfying about showing up for your space in a tangible way.

In the Kitchen - My sourdough starter is fed and I’m experimenting with something new. There are grapes drying in the dehydrator, and by day’s end, they should officially be raisins. I keep reminding myself how much better the day begins when the kitchen is clean the night before.
Rachel and I signed up for a vendor event this Saturday, so there will be plenty of mixing, kneading, and baking in the days ahead.

Writing - I’ve resumed my morning pages most days, and they continue to be a lifeline. This blog is where I’m focusing my writing energy right now. I’m determined to create content that serves the few readers who do visit—and to leave behind stories and reflections our family will treasure someday.

Reading - Honestly? Nothing—unless you count the endless scrolling I sometimes catch myself doing. Last night, I considered a social media fast, but I think for now I’ll simply practice more wisdom in how I use it. There are still parts I genuinely enjoy. Setting a reminder now to read Christina’s draft—it deserves attention, not just intention.

Watching - John just finished Blindspot—and I did too, by default. Like many shows, it wore out its welcome near the end. Now Rachel is campaigning for Hart of Dixie or another run through Suits. I should probably redirect myself toward reading again. LOL

Listening - Some really good music lately. I’m hoping to build a few playlists to share on the blog—songs that help match music to mood. I think others might find that helpful too.

Making - Still baking a fair bit of bread, though it's slowed down. I’m always dreaming of what’s next. More than anything, I’m making my way back to the basics—making a home, making a space, making peace with simple rhythms.

Camp - Looking back, I’m really thankful we decided to postpone our trip. The power was apparently out more often than not, and there was a lot of rain. We’ll go when it makes sense. For now, home is where we’re meant to be.

The Week Ahead - We’re midweek already, but the next few days will be filled with baking, packaging, and prepping for The Market Barn vendor event. I just love that name—it feels like something out of a storybook. If Saturday goes well, I think Rachel will be there monthly going forward. I’ll contribute where I can, but this is truly her adventure. She’s stepping out in a big way, and I’m so proud of her. We also have some special visitors arriving later today—and I’m looking forward to every minute with them.

Something to think about

“Don’t let your environment reflect what you’re feeling; let it reflect how you want to feel.”
(More Language of Letting Go)

What a beautiful way to shift our focus—especially when life feels heavy. This one deserves a spot on the wall.
