My poor basil is dying. I am sad. Must have more basil. My rosemary is even dying. I don't remember this amount of rain - ever.
I took a stroll through the straw bale garden (in the rain). I took some photos because, honestly, I'm not even sure what is alive now will be in a few weeks. So, I wanted photos to prove to my future self that there really was a garden - with plants growing - in June 2015.
I haven't decided yet whether the straw bale garden is a great idea. The cost, the location, the fact that it is NOT WEED-FREE. Hello. Don't-lie-to-me.
Picked a good handful of jalapenos though!!! What to do with them....

Love building trellises. This is my dear husband's work. |

I've never seen tomato plants try to root at this height, near the bottom with soil, yes, but not this. Wow. This is an heirloom - Brandywine. It looks very different from the tomato plants we've typically grown. Looking forward to trying the fruit. |

Pumpkins. Sugar Babies. I love growing pumpkins! |
|
Malabar Spinach - which isn't really spinach at all. But it loves -
absolutely thrives in heat - so you can imagine it isn't lovin' this
weather... |

It would be fun to pretend this is a fairy town. I've become a mushroom farmer. |
|
Dill. I've only grown it one other time. It's pretty easy but we'll see considering all this precipitation. |

Baby pumpkin! |

What beauties! Jalapenos. These will certainly be good in my homemade Pico De Gallo! |

Blackberries grow well here. This is the first year I actually pruned and trained them. I like the new set up and apparently the plants do too. I have a record amount of fruit ripening on the vines. |

Can you see the fairies dancing? |
|
Grapes hanging desperately from their vine. This is what happens when there is not enough time and energy to finish projects started. We have the posts in for the wire trellis but between weather issues and energy issues they are still laying on the ground, much to my chagrin. |
