On the banks of River Lawson
We'll be listing our house on Realtor.com in a day or so. We'll be asking a lot more for it now since we can say we have "water front" property. Hey, it's not flooded so technically it really is just water front. LOL
Well, that was yesterday. Today, we're just left with a garden that may or may not survive and a lot of ground holding water and threatening to breed vast numbers of mosquito. I am extremely thankful that it's just a garden and not our home. My heart and prayers are for those who lost much more in the recent flooding.
I am glad I took photos the day before the big rains started. My last post included some of those photos. Now, I'll post some of our back yard area during the flooding and the results left today.

Captured a shot of this ball floating down from somewhere... all I could think of was Wilson from Cast Away. "Wilson, come back - don't leave me, Wilson!" Terrible, I know. |

I was able to turn them back right-side up, but the bales are soaked completely through and without some seriously hot sun I worry that the roots will rot pretty quickly. |
All this to say, I'm even more inclined not to do the straw bales again because the only space we have to do them in our current home is the same space and this happens every few years. It hasn't the past few years because our HOA had new drainage systems put in place and it worked very well. Courtesy of the remnants of Tropical Storm Bill, that changed this year. We'll see - time will tell.
Simply,
Susan
