Hello! Today is:

SEE WHAT'S NEW!

Do you recognize this kitchen appliance?  You probably know it as the turkey cooker :-)  Many of us may have seen our parents cook a turkey in this little baby at Thanksgiving if they were cooking for a crowd.  But guess what?  It's not just for turkey! LOL

A couple days ago, my oven stopped working (again).  I haven't called the warranty company yet and know that even when I do it will be a few days or weeks before I have a working oven again.  It's February folks.  That's the season for baking and roasting, right?  What self-respecting foodie can live without a working oven?  So I pulled this guy out from the basement shelf where it resides to see if it will suffice until the repair it done.  I made salmon chowder for our bible study crew yesterday and wanted to serve Red Lobster cheddar biscuits with it so what better time to test the theory that it's not just for turkeys.  Well, to be honest I have to admit I personally have made more than just turkeys in it.  I've made huge amounts of sloppy joes and wings in it.  I've just never actually used it to bake anything, so it was time to try.  And it was a winner!  The biscuits baked perfectly.  I had to use a baking sheet half the size I normally would and it took twice as long to crank out the number of biscuits I needed but that's okay.  I now know I don't have an excuse not to make my sweet husband's favorite blue berry muffins this morning.  So, off I go to do just that.

Have a great day!  It's Friday after all :-)

P.S.  The recipe for that delicious salmon chowder can be found here on my cooking blog.
