Hello! Today is:

SEE WHAT'S NEW!

Sawyer “woke up” today!!! (Adjust post date to Thursday February 15)

I remember when I sensed a “wake-up” in my own kiddos.  It seems it was around this time - the three week mark. I especially remember it for Christina :-) I remember it because she woke up and then began the strangest pattern of infant behavior I’d ever encountered. She would sleep for 15-20 minute increments, and then stay awake for hours.  She’d catnap again for 15-20 minutes and then wake up again.

This is how her childhood went - wasn’t it Einstein, the genius, who never actually slept like normal people? Well darn! No. I guess that’s one of those things you hear repeated and believe without actually doing the research to see if there’s any truth to it. I always heard that Einstein’s genius was somehow attributed to his bizarre habit of strictly catnapping his way through existense - that he never actually slept for long periods of time. I just Googled it LOL and as it turns out it’s actually quite the opposite. It is believed that he slept for 10 hours every night and then catnapped throughout his days in addition to the more than 1 1/2 more hours of sleep most get. Bummer, I thought Christina might turn out to be a genius :-) Just kidding!! She actually is pretty genius if you ask me.

The point I was trying to make in this post is that Sawyer is definitely spending more time awake. And as of this update on Tuesday, February 20, he is smiling more intentionally. He was giggling at mama’s breast last night. His giggle is contagious - he makes everyone around him smile. Such a joy!!

Night are still so hard!! I’d like to say they’re getting better, but I don’t know that I can say that with complete honesty. And my daughter might kick me - hard - if she knew ;-)

Off to wake the crew.

Have a joy filled day!!
