Hello! Today is:

SEE WHAT'S NEW!

I brought an incubator along with one goose egg and several duck eggs home from the farm Monday. Alison has had the goose egg for quite some time first under a heat lamp on her kitchen counter and then in the incubator that her mom sent her. I mentioned one day that I would love to hatch chickens and she told me to take it whenever I was ready - it would make for one less thing on her plate. So I finally brought it home after several weeks. We placed in right on the kitchen counter :-) so we could keep a close eye on it. Alison said the goose egg should hatch by about Saturday this week so I wanted it close by to observe. Christina arrived home from her very long trip to Minnesota with our good friends and was checking it out. We were both looking in the window and then we saw it! It moved, wiggled, expanded! We both looked at each other and said, "did you see that?" WOW!! I feel kind of bad - Alison took care of it for all that time and now we'll see the hatching occur. But I'm so excited about having the opportunity.
I still have research to do though. It will take several days for the little guy to make a full appearance. I'll take photos and post as things progress. More later.
We have cracks in the goose egg! It's Monday and I was really beginnig to wonder if the movement we were all seeing was in our imaginations but apparently not. I spied two sizeable cracks in the egg this morning. I have reading to do today. I have the heat lap, thermometer and straw laid out in the basement to dry. I do not have a large box which I will have to have very soon. Hmm, wonder why I didn't think of that this weekend at the farm. There were plenty to choose from that would have worked, oh well. I wonder what the kids will name the goose. Wonder if it will survive after hatching - I hope so.
