Blah, blah, blah, blah
Sometimes I just feel like all I can get out is the above phrase. Scary isn't it?
There is always something going on inside my little brain. Sometimes it seems like what's going on in there is pretty important, maybe even profound. But other times it just feels like the background noise from the tv that is always on in our house.
Random thoughts.
Why does our electric company insist upon sending us a little reminder each month that our household is using twice as much electricity as every other house in the neighborhood? Are they unhappy that I am paying them for a service they are providing? Is it to point out that I have more than the 2.whatever the count is now for the "typical" American family number of children? Is it to further guilt me about the - not one but two - extra refrigerators I have in my garage? The really old ones that are definitely NOT energy efficient? Listen, the only reason I have two is because we really needed one extra refrigerator for when we were buying more in bulk to save money and much of it needed refrigeration. But when I had a friend offer a free refrigerator to us if we agreed to take both - who am I to refuse? So I am trying to whittle down the amount of salad dressings in the spare-spare refrigerator so I can consolidate into one and get rid of both dinosaurs.
Small family, medium family, large family? Well, we're not small - that's for sure. But I guess whether or not we're medium or large depends on who I'm talking to. We have five kids. They include a 27 year old daughter who is now married and has a beautiful baby girl. They visit often and when they leave they usually take a "few" things with them. They are a young family struggling - still working and in college - so we feel blessed that we are in a position to help out. Next, our 22 year old who lives at home, works two jobs and attends university full time. An 18 year old son, 17 year old daughter who will both graduate from our homeschool this year - one works, plays sports; the other can usually be found on wheels of some sort. Then our sweet 11 year old daughter. Did I mention that another young lady, a friend of my daughter's is staying with us for a few months? We're happy to have her. Did I mention that my brother-in-law has started visiting on a regular basis? That has the whole family tickled pink, seriously! We love that he comes to hang out with us and he always makes us smile. Did I mention... that my mother-in-law has been able to visit more often because her best friend has family here and they come to visit frequently? Did I mention that my brother and his wife, my mother and my sister, my sister-in-law and her family, our friends from Puerto Rico visit sometimes frequently? Did I mention that my kids have a lot of friends and that they really love being at our house? Did I mention that we wouldn't have it any other way? I prayed for opportunities to offer hospitality. My prayer was answered in unexpected, unpredictable and beautiful ways.
God is so good.
Yep, random thoughts.
