Hello! Today is:

SEE WHAT'S NEW!

That's not really true.  In my profile description it says my blog is of "no particular purpose" but that's not really true.  The truth is I have longed for something that I had started to believe no other woman was longing for.  But I now know that many other women are longing for the same thing, some who are aware of their longing and some who are not.  It's not really a thing; it's an experience - an ongoing, ever-deepening experience.  It's joy, hope, love, faith, friendship, personal growth, peace, forgiveness, freedom, acceptance, authenticity, honesty, genuine community.  Perhaps it's because I am nearing 50.  I'm not quite there, I have a few years but still...  I'm okay with the fact that 50 is just a few short years away.  I have no plans to rush time.  I have gained a new perspective and along with it a desire to embrace every moment just the way it is.

In my search to continue The Journey I am finding voices in every venue sharing their own longing and their discovery of what is satisfying that longing.  As a Catholic Christian I am, of course, drawn to those who are finding their longing satisfied in Christ.  I know of no other way to satisfy the desires of the heart and the deep longing in our souls.  I believe that God created each of us with a drive to find our way back to him and in him is our rest, our peace, our joy.

So the purpose of my blog is ultimately to share  what I am learning and to be an encouragement to others who are seeking the same thing.  There are far better writers,  much more eloquent and certainly more mature in their faith journey but God planted this desire in me so I must do my part.  Yes, I write about cooking, gardening, parenting - you know, the things that life is made of but really the point is to say that I have found this incredible sense of joy and I want to share it.  I want to nurture it and let it flourish.  I want to point to a blog or a book, a song or a conference or just a simple, honest statement shared by a friend or an unknown Facebook voice that expresses some profound or less profound but still meaningful thought that might speak to someone who really needs to hear it at just that moment.  I want to join in the chorus of beautiful voices saying, "Look, look at what God has done for me and what He wants to do for you too!"

I have just somewhat defined my vision for this blog.  It does have a purpose.  I will build on that purpose more intentionally now that I have put voice to it.

So, if you're reading this now and you want to see what I'm talking about check out some of the blogs on the blog-list on the sidebar.  My favorites right now are A Holy Experience and In(Courage).

I'm reading One Thousand Gifts (A Dare to Live Fully Right Where You Are) by Ann Voskamp.  Ann Voskamp is the author of the above suggested blog A Holy Experience.  This is an incredible book and will be a blessing to anyone who is trying to reconcile living with suffering while still experiencing joy. Must read, must read, must read.

There are a few more listed on the sidebar and I will continue to add more as I discover them.  Please take a moment to leave a comment if you have a resource that you have been blessed by that I can add.

God bless you!

Susan
