The things we really want to say but don't
I had a really bad day yesterday. The great thing is I can look back on it today and see where it went all wrong and what part I played in my meltdown.
The great thing about blogging is that you have a place to go and share with - well, who knows who's really reading this stuff - the things you just can't keep in your brain anymore. The things that threaten to rob you of all remaining sanity after the kids have taken most of it - just kidding. The bad thing about blogging is that sometimes we don't say what we really want and need to say because we're afraid people will read between lines and think it says something that it really doesn't say. Do you blog? Do you know what I mean? On second thought, I should change the above sentence to read "I" don't say the things I really want and need because "I'm" afraid... now there's honesty.
Other folks seem to have no problem putting their thoughts out there without concern for other peoples' opinions. And that's a good thing, right? I think it is if it is done with kindness and discretion. After all we are all entitled to our own opinions. This is the lesson I must learn. I am not responsible for telling people what they want to hear. I am responsible to be honest with myself and others. I can do so without being hurtful.
Sound like a pep talk? Yea, I thought so too. I needed one.
God is at work. I feel like a rock in a tumbler, turning, turning, turning - working toward a smooth polished shine. I'm still pretty rough around the edges so there's a lot of tumbling to be done. But I trust where He leads and that brings me peace.
