Hello! Today is:

SEE WHAT'S NEW!

Becoming a Master Gardener

Just considering it. I think it is time to move ahead with this hobby :-) My husband agrees.

Today I tackled blossom end rot on our tomato plants and the bell pepper plants. Barb informed me that if I was certain it wasn't due to inconsistant watering that it is probably due to lack of calcium - the cure - limestone. I checked it out today just to be certain and she hit it spot on. So I added lime to the beds and informed dh not to add anymore fertilizer containing nitrogen as it depletes the calcium and inhibits the absorption of calcium. We'll see if they improve.

We have pretty much decided that the beds will need complete revamping this fall. Boy, does that sound like some hard work!

Gardens are a lot of work but they are sure worth the effort. I'll get some photos to upload tomorrow :-)

Happy gardening!
