Hello! Today is:

SEE WHAT'S NEW!

Today has been a good day! I have accomplished much and still have time and energy to do more.

I had 2 yards each of mulch and soil delivered today. According to their records this was a small load :-) Two years ago we had 4 yards of soil delivered and last year it was 8 yards. I don't know why I had never considered having them deliver mulch as well. It's so much cheaper this way than buying the bags at the box stores. Of course, the past two years we had been getting our raised beds up and running and now we just have to add a little each year as needed. This soil is mostly for containers that I want to use to spruce up the outdoor living space with color. We also have some erosion issues we need to fill in. The mulch - well, that's self-explanatory.

I brought home a piece that I have held on to for years knowing that eventually I would want to use it for something - an old (very old!) cast iron stove. It had been safely tucked away at my mom's house for years and I loaded it up and brought it back with me this past weekend. Now it has a fresh coat of black paint and is ready to be staged as 'hardscape' with some nice potted flowers.

  1. At the last house in GR, we would have 16 cubic yards of mulch delivered and then have to spread it. What a chore!!! And yes, I did write sixteen. That is not a typo. So I do feel some of your pain on getting that mulch spread.

We will have 3 cubic yards of river rocks delivered in the next couple of weeks.....Mark bought a 'coal' shovel to help spread those rocks.... ugh....

I am off for Port Huron for Rachel's competition....

    Have a great weekend!

  2. I had 5 yds delivered week before last. Maybe I'll get around to posting the pics? It took the kids and me, 2 days to spread it. Oh yeah, I'm home - a couple hours ago.
