Hello! Today is:

SEE WHAT'S NEW!

That’s what Robin calls it.  She is the cruise director of her marriage.  I understand this notion, and I think I’m about to embark on the same trip.

It’s entirely too easy to let John come last, getting only left-overs.  And that’s just not acceptable. That needs to change.  I was on my way there, but I got side-tracked for just a moment. :-)

So, I’ll be brainstorming how to navigate some new things.  I know if I am faithful in handing it over, and really trusting and watching, I’ll see God at work in all of it.  I trust.  I absolutely trust.  New challenge, new growth. :-)

During my reading this morning, I think I came across my first topic title for the weekly post!  Light Show.  In More Language of Letting Go, Melody Beattie shares about a friend who kept a Light Show file available on his computer.  He filled it with stories of divine guidance, divine intervention, and serendipitous events. Serendipitous - I really, really like that!  And I totally get it.

It’s hard to explain to people sometimes when you feel like things are connected in a kind of supernatural way.  It seems silly to some people, and it’s downright offensive to others.  I had a friend who once told me how ridiculous she felt it was when someone would share a story of how a mark on a shoe was the result of (fill in the blank because I can’t remember exactly what she said).  The bottom line was that she thought people who saw these serendipitous events were religious nuts.  Well, I tend to be one of those people who see serendipity, and love and appreciate it.  It’s really about the same as saying you don’t believe in coincidence, which I don’t.  I mean I guess there are definitely moments of pure coincidence, but I am quick to look for ways in which God is at work in people’s lives - always.

The idea behind the Light Show is to keep a journal, a log, of times in your life when you can look back and see God at work in your life.

“Whenever he begins to doubt the presence of a Benevolent Force, whenever he stops trusting life, whenever he feels abandoned or wonders exactly how wise it is to trust God, he turns to his own light show to remind himself how powerful and wise it really is to let go.”
I think it’s a wonderful idea to keep a written record of these moments.  It’s too easy to forget how often God works on our behalf in the smallest of ways.  It’s easier, of course, to be able to see this in the bigger, harder places in our story, but those smaller, less noticeable things are just as important - maybe even more so.

So, Light Show it is!  My first topic title! Maybe that will get the snowball rolling for the rest. Inspiration is unpredictable, isn’t it?

I need to arrange to meet with my friend, the cruise director.  We haven’t caught up for far too long now.  I miss her face.

I’m thrilled to have a house full of people I love!  Jesus, give me strength to love them well and live well!!!

Joy - pure joy!!!
